The Importance of Online Identity



Having an online identity is becoming more common and demanding with each generation. Kids are familiar with Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter which all require an online identity. There are other sites, such as Small Worlds, that are more interactive and allow kids to create avatars and share their daily experiences with others. Small Worlds is good for neglected kids that do not have the opportunity to share their daily experiences with a parent or guardian. You could incorporate avatars into your classroom in many different ways. One way I believe would be interesting is if instead of having kids journal on paper, they could journal electronically using an avatar(s) to express what is going on in their life and their emotions.
